The handcrafted tea sets are decorated using small handmade stamps which I have designed and no two are exactly alike. Each set requires 900 to 1,500 stamps with decoration continuing to the inside of the lid, around the rim of the lid, and on the top. I carry the pattern down the handle of the teapot, as well as on the bottom. Once the teapot is assembled, I add the pattern to the spout and make sure that all aspects have been decorated.
When I make the tea bowls I make double the amount needed for the set so that I can select the best ones. I also make multiple trays so that the tea set will sit exactly as planned with room to pick up the teapot and individual cups easily.
Once the set has been assembled I inspect each piece for any imperfections. By sanding the lids and inside of the teapot where the lid sits, I ensure that it is soft to the touch and the lid will fit smoothly on the teapot. I also smooth out the bottom of the teapot, each of the tea bowls, as well as the tray.
These handcrafted tea pots are designed for loose leaf teas. Each has a built-in strainer and will strain out the tea leaves as it pours out your delicious tea. I make the strainer by pushing in on the side of the teapot to create a half sphere in the interior space. The shape lets the tea leaves collect at the bottom, allowing the liquid to pour off the top.
I recommend hand washing these sets but they are microwave and dishwasher safe.
