Made from Poppler and Hickory bark the baskets are made using traditional Appalachian methods that date back generation and generations in Western North Carolina. Lyle fells the Poppler tree in late May, early June as the sap starts to run. He then peels the bark off the gree, scores it, folds it, and sets it in the sun to dry. After drying for several weeks, he rives holes, and using Hickory bark, he pulls from the Hickory tree, he ties it all together. There are no screws or glue holding them together, just bark.
